A few years ago, we made a grapefruit margarita with our Jamaican Ruby Red in honor of National Margarita Day! Jamaican Ruby Red is an herbal blend of grapefruit, eucalyptus, apple, carrot, and hibiscus. It’s tangy-sweet flavor is the perfect complement to tequila, and we think it should be enjoyed more than once a year. Here’s our recipe:
RUBY RED MARGARITA:
3 oz tequila
2 oz fresh grapefruit juice
2 oz Jamaican Ruby Red simple syrup*
1 tsp orange liqueur
2 tbsp salt or sugar for the rim
Pour ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake and strain into a glass rimmed with sugar or salt, your choice. It’s delicious with both!
JAMAICAN RUBY RED SIMPLE SYRUP:
2 tbsp Jamaican Ruby Red
2 tbsp sugar
8 oz water
Bring 8oz of water to a boil then pour into a measuring cup. Add the dried Jamaican Ruby Red and the sugar to the water. Steep for 7 minutes and strain into a glass or measuring cup.
