Tea Cocktail: The Flying Fig

The Flying Fig was created in honor of one of our employee’s birthday. I wanted to create something fun, festive, and a little unusual. What mad scientist would pair together First Flush Darjeeling, fig jam, and tequila?! Well I’m hear to tell you, it turned out more delicious than I could’ve hoped.

The astringency of Darjeeling pairs beautifully with the spicy-sweet combination of ginger and fig. Add in a little tequila and a touch of lime to round out the flavor of this jazzy little drink. Try serving The Flying Fig at your next soiree, it’s sure to be a hit.

3oz tequila
3oz First Flush Darjeeling & ginger simple syrup*
1 heaping teaspoon fig jam
juice of half a lime

Combine tequila, simple syrup, jam, and lime juice in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake vigorously (get that jam well mixed!), and strain into your prettiest cocktail glass.

4tbsp First Flush Darjeeling
3 tbsp dried ginger
4 tbsp raw honey

Bring 16oz water to a boil and remove from heat. Steep the First Flush Darjeeling and dried ginger in the water for 5 minutes, then strain into a measuring cup. Add 4tbsp honey and stir until dissolved.
