Tea Cocktail: The Lady GreyMay 7, 2020
Tis the season for all things warm and cozy. In the winter months, spiked hot drinks get their time in the limelight. While we love a good hot toddy as much as the next person, it should come as no surprise to our customers that we have to take our boozy hot tea to the next level. And yes, that means it's time for you to try a Spiked Peppermint Bark Fog.
If you haven't had a Peppermint Bark Fog yet, it's one of our most popular drinks all year. It consists of our Peppermint Bark tea
steeped half in steamed milk, half hot water, and sweetened with vanilla and our German rock sugar. It is, without a doubt, the most comforting drink of all time. If you want to make a regular Peppermint Bark Fog at home, we sell kits for that!
And if you're ready to try the cocktail version of our beloved specialty drink, here's the recipe.
Spiked Peppermint Bark Fog
(Makes one 16oz cocktail)
4 tbsp Peppermint Bark black tea
8 oz water
8 oz steamed milk
3 tsp light brown sugar
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
1-2 oz cognac, to taste
In a measuring cup, combine 4 tbsp Peppermint Bark and 3 tsp raw sugar.
Bring 8oz water to a boil. At the same time, add the vanilla extract and milk to a milk frother and heat. Some of the milk will be whipped into foam, so in order to have 8oz of steamed milk you’ll need a little excess. You can also heat the vanilla and milk in a saucepan over medium heat. Remove from heat just before the milk begins to boil.
Add 8oz boiling water and 8oz steamed milk to the measuring cup containing the tea leaves and sugar. Steep for 5 minutes and give it a stir, then strain into a mug.
Add the cognac to taste. Top with a little foam or whipped cream, as desired. If you’re feeling very festive, sprinkle with crushed peppermint candies.
