Matcha is a Japanese tea that has been ground into powder form with a mortar and pestle.

Matcha is made from a shade grown Tencha, which is covered during the last part of the growing period to ensure an overproduction of chlorophyll in the plant. This technique gives the tea a vibrant green color and an intense grassy flavor. Matcha has traditionally been used for centuries in Japanese tea ceremonies. High in antioxidants and caffeine, it is a healthy alternative to coffee in the mornings.
