The newest addition to our Reserve Collection is the truly exceptional Ceylon Sinharaja. This award-winning Ceylon is grown exclusively at Sri Lanka’s famous Lumbini Estate, located on the southern edge of the Sinharaja Forest Reserve. This tea has a rich, malty quality, reminiscent of a second flush Assam, although it also has the characteristic “bright and brisk” quality of a traditional Ceylon. Notes of plumeria, honey, and cinnamon in the finish.
Our Ceylon Sinharaja has also won numerous awards, including First Place in Canada’s Gold Medal Tea Competition, First Place in Best Hot Black Tea at the World Tea Expo in 2017 and 2018, and Specialty Tea of the Year for Sri Lanka in 2005 and 2006.
The Lumbini Estate is one of the tea gardens our owner, Abigail, visited on a 2017 trip to Sri Lanka. She had the pleasure of seeing all steps of the tea production process at Lumbini Estate, from growing, to harvesting, to processing this orthodox grade Ceylon.
We recommend steeping Ceylon Sinharaja for 3 minutes at 195°.
