One of the most famous green teas from Zhejiang Province, China. “Bai Cha” means “white tea,” and refers to the leaves’ light greenish yellow appearance. However, this is a decidedly green tea. While the initial expectation might be for this tea to be delicate due to the lightness of its brewed liquor, An Ji Bai Cha is wonderfully full-bodied, an effervescent tea with a complex, pleasing brew.
Characteristic asparagus aroma, with hints of citrus. It is vegetal, this tea contains higher amounts of L-theanine that gives it a rich umami flavor, but it is pleasantly sweet in the finish. We also detect a bit of melon in this season’s harvest. Absolutely delicious.
An Ji Bai Cha contains a high amount of the amino acid L-theanine, which promotes focus and attention when paired with caffeine. L-theanine may also have a calming effect without causing drowsiness.
This tea is part of our Rare Tea Collection, which is a rotating selection of high end, hard to source teas. We have limited quantities of each tea, and most are only available seasonally. Once they’re gone, they’re gone, unless next season’s harvest is too good to pass up.
