A sweet and satisfying Rooibos blend that combines rich, creamy caramel with chocolate chips, hazelnut, roasted coffee beans and a hint of Roman chamomile.
Please note that this blend contains nuts (hazelnut).
Caramel Biscotti works well as a latte—try serving it with a healthy portion of steamed milk. As for other desserts–isn’t it obvious? Try it with traditional almond biscotti. Delicious!
Grown only in South Africa, Rooibos is a botanical rich in antioxidants, Vitamin C and Vitamin E. Although it is brewed like tea, Rooibos does not actually contain any portion of the tea plant and is often mistakenly referred to as “red tea”. It’s naturally sweet with notes of honey and caramel and contains no caffeine.
South Africans have been drinking Rooibos for centuries, often with milk and sugar, but it is only recently that Rooibos has been consumed so vigorously outside of Africa. Rooibos is becoming increasingly popular in the United States due to its mild flavor and purported health benefits. Not only does it contain a high concentration of antioxidants, but several new scientific studies have linked Rooibos to the relief of allergy symptoms and to helping aid digestion.
Author Alexander McCall Smith’s beloved character Mma Precious Ramotswe, featured in his No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency series, is often described drinking bush tea. Bush tea is another name for Rooibos. The series takes place in Botswana where Rooibos has been popular for generations.
15,000 tons of Rooibos are harvested in South Africa every hear. Over half of it is destined for export.
We recommend steeping Caramel Biscotti for 5 minutes at 208°. Because Rooibos does not contain any portion of the tea plant, it is less prone to bitterness and, therefore, difficult to over-steep.
Ingredients: Rooibos, chocolate chips, brittle pieces, cream caramel pieces, flavoring, freeze-dried yogurt granules, roasted coffee beans, Roman chamomile. Contains dairy.
ANDREA SHOKRANI –
A very tasty tea! It’s not overly rich in spice or sweetness, but it smells very sweet as it’s being brewed. The only thing I’m not a fan of is the almond-like after taste (I like fresh almonds, but I don’t like them cooked). The ingredient list does not state almonds as an ingredient, but that’s what I taste. It’s other wise a really good tea, and I would consider buying it again.
