Organic Peppermint Leaf. Bold and bright. We enjoy our Peppermint Leaf on its own or blended into some of our favorite teas for a refreshing change. Peppermint leaf has long been turned into tea for its purported health benefits: it is thought to aid in supporting a healthy immune system, facilitating digestion, soothing upset stomaches, and easing headache tension and muscle cramps.
If you’re feeling creative, try adding a pinch of peppermint leaf to Strawberry Rosé, Silver Needle, Mate Zen, or Breakfast Blend (iced and sweetened, for the ultimate southern Sweet Tea).
The peppermint leaf contains menthol, and menthol helps with a number of functions. It is a natural muscle relaxer, so this is why peppermint can help ease headaches, sore throats, and cramps. Menthol also helps with bile product in the stomach, which facilitates food digestion. Menthol also plays a part in peppermint leaf’s ability to temporarily relieve sinus congestion.
One thing to note, if you have GERD or heartburn, hiatal hernia, gastrointestinal ulcers, or severe gastrointestinal inflammation, you should use caution when drinking peppermint leaf, as it can relax the sphincter between the esophagus and stomach, and cause gastroesophageal reflux. It may not affect everyone the same way, and so we suggest talking to your doctor if you have any concerns.
We recommend steeping Peppermint Leaf for 5 minutes at 208°. Since it does not contain any portion of the tea plant, Peppermint Leaf is very forgiving and difficult to over-steep.
Ingredients: Peppermint leaf.
